Our Advocacy Priorities
As the world's largest airline pilot union, we advocate tirelessly for our members. With threats to the airline piloting profession continuing to evolve, our collective voice remains vital in influencing policy decisions.
Explore Key Issues
            Modernize Air Traffic Control
Outdated technology and aging infrastructure are putting strain on our airspace. It's time to invest in a safer, smarter, and more efficient ATC system.
            Pilot Retirement Age
The mandatory pilot retirement age should remain at 65. Attempts to increase it threaten airline safety.
Two Pilots on the Flight Deck
An airliner's strongest safety asset is at least two fully qualified, highly trained, and well rested pilots on the flight deck.
            Flight Deck Barriers
Flight deck barriers, including a secondary barrier, are critical to security on passenger and all-cargo aircraft.
            Pilot Training Standards
There is no pilot shortage. Airline executives cut services and compromise pilot training standards to save costs.
            Pilot Mental Health
Outdated aeromedical rules discourage pilots from seeking care for mental health. It's time to modernize the system.
            Federal Flight Deck Officer Program
TSA-trained and deputized pilots provide a critical layer of defense to the U.S. national aviation security system.
            Global Competition
Unfair business practices by foreign carriers undermine the stability of the U.S. airline industry, put aviation safety at risk, and disadvantage American workers.
Safe Integration of New & Existing Airspace Users
New operations from drones to commercial space launches must not compromise aviation safety.
            Cabin Air Quality
Cabin air contamination is a safety and health issue in today’s airline operating environment.
Flight Time & Duty Time Regulations
Canadian airline pilots deserve flight- and duty-time regulations that prioritize safety, prevent fatigue, and protect passengers and crew.
            Free & Fair Collective Bargaining
A strong Canadian airline industry depends on workers and employers negotiating in good faith—without government interference.

Advocacy in Action at the Legislative Summit
From the flight deck to Capitol Hill, we're leading the charge to shape the future of aviation—making clear that safety, security, and labor rights are non-negotiable.
On June 4, 2025, we educated lawmakers on the importance of modernizing the air traffic control system, maintaining no less than two pilots on the flight deck of every commercial airliner, and ensuring that pilots and air traffic controllers can access mental health resources without risking their medical certifications or jobs.
ALPA-PAC Is the Unified Voice for Airline Pilots
ALPA-PAC is your political voice in D.C. and across the country. It is funded 100 percent by voluntary contributions from ALPA members living in the United States.
ALPA-PAC allows us to plan for the future by building relationships and informing decision-makers about the issues that affect our industry. The more robust our PAC, the better we’re able to fill Congress with pilot-partisan champions who’ll support our priorities.
