About Us
The Air Line Pilots Association, International (ALPA) is the world’s largest airline pilot union. We represent and advocate for more than 80,000 pilots at 43 airlines in the United States and Canada.
What We Do
Since our founding in 1931, the safety of our pilot members has been the core of everything we do. We work tirelessly to ensure the airline industry remains safe by providing fact-based evaluations of safety and security issues. Our Air Safety Organization, made up of over 600 volunteer pilots, plays a key role in guiding our efforts.
We represent and advocate for the collective interests of all airline pilots. We negotiate contracts with airlines to secure better pay, benefits, and working conditions. We ensure our members' voices are heard in legislative discussions with Congress and Parliament, federal agencies, and international bodies to advance policies that benefit pilots and the aviation industry.
