WASHINGTON, D.C.—The Air Line Pilots Association, Int’l (ALPA), has elected the newest slate of ALPA Canada officers to continue advancing ALPA’s work for its Canadian members. The elections were held Wednesday, October 28, during the Association’s 51st regular biennial Board of Directors meeting.

WestJet Capt. Tim Perry, first elected as ALPA Canada President in 2018, was reelected. Air Canada Capt. Gilles Boissonneault was reelected as Vice President. Air Transat Capt. Louis-Éric Mongrain will again serve as Vice President of Administration and Finance, following his reelection.

As ALPA Canada President, Perry will also serve on the Association’s Executive Council. The three officers’ new terms begin January 1, 2027.

Following a term focused on defending aviation safety regulations and toward protecting workers’ rights, Perry remains focused on further building ALPA Canada’s political influence and advocacy.

“Whether defending safety regulations, protecting collective bargaining rights, pushing back against flawed labour policies, or negotiating better contracts, our success has always come from working together,” Perry said. “We have built the influence, earned the credibility, and gained the momentum to meet whatever challenges lie ahead.”

“In less than a decade, ALPA Canada has increased its membership by 600 percent, now representing over 14,000 pilots at 22 airlines,” Boissoneault said. “That growth matters. It strengthens our collective voice and expands our influence.”

“Our professionalism makes us one of the most valuable resources in the aviation sector,” Mongrain said. “By working together, we will continue upholding aviation safety standards and protecting the labour rights of Canadian workers.”

Founded in 1931, ALPA is the largest airline pilot union in the world and represents more than 80,000 pilots at 42 U.S. and Canadian airlines. Visit the ALPA Canada website at or follow us on X @ALPACanada.
