Spirit Airlines Pilots Union Elects Leadership Team

DANIA BEACH, Fla. — Earlier this week, the Spirit Airlines Master Executive Council (MEC), Air Line Pilots Association, Int'l (ALPA), elected its officers for a two-year term starting on March 16, 2026, and ending on March 15, 2028. Capt. Ryan Muller was unanimously re-elected to his third consecutive term as MEC Chair, First Officer Doug Erickson was elected as Vice Chair, and Capt. Andrew Scheffer was unanimously elected as Secretary-Treasurer. 

“Serving the Spirit pilot group as MEC Chair is an honor I do not take lightly,” said Muller. “With more than 500 furloughed colleagues beginning the journey back to the line, we are taking an important step toward restoring the strength of our seniority list.” Capt. Muller joined Spirit Airlines in 2015 and has served as a Spirit pilot for over a decade. He is an Airbus Captain based in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. 

First Officer Erickson joined Spirit Airlines in 2018 and is a First Officer based in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. He previously served as LEC 109 First Officer Representative and Secretary, and as Chair of the Veteran and Military Affairs Committee. "I am humbled by the trust the MEC representatives have placed in me during these challenging times. Our pilot group deserves seamless leadership." 

Capt. Scheffer joined Spirit Airlines in 2016 and is an Airbus A320 Captain based in Chicago, Illinois. He previously served as LEC 098 Secretary-Treasurer. "I am honored to have been elected your MEC Secretary-Treasurer and am committed to representing our pilot group with integrity and maintaining a strong focus on our financial strength and professional well-being."
