Press Release
WASHINGTON, D.C.—The Air Line Pilots Association, Int’l (ALPA) today issued the following statement on the nomination of former Delta Air Lines Capt. Doug Ralph to serve on National Mediation Board (NMB):
"We applaud the President’s choice to nominate a labor representative as an NMB board member. Capt. Ralph’s experience as both a line pilot and an ALPA volunteer makes him an outstanding choice to serve on the National Mediation Board.
"The NMB plays a critical role in the airline and rail industries by facilitating interstate commerce through the maintenance of productive collective bargaining. Capt. Ralph’s background as a frontline labor representative positions him well to serve both labor and management in that mission. His familiarity with the collective bargaining process, combined with his operational experience, will bring a valuable and credible perspective to the Board.
"We look forward to his confirmation and to continuing ALPA's longstanding partnership with the NMB in support of fair, effective labor relations across the aviation industry."
Founded in 1931, ALPA is the world’s largest airline pilot union, representing over 80,000 pilots at 42 airlines in the United States and Canada. Visit the ALPA website at www.alpa.org or follow us on Twitter @ALPAPilots.
