Pilot-Company Relationship Improves
Perimeter Aviation pilots had a busy 2025, which included both positive outcomes and ongoing challenges with management, such as improved communications and continuing pilot-retention issues.
The pilot group’s Master Executive Council (MEC) has seen promising improvements in its relationship with company leaders. A more collaborative and respectful approach has replaced the previous contentious relationship.
A clear example of this is the resolution of a backlog of more than 30 grievances. MEC leaders and the company increased the frequency of meetings throughout the year to address disagreements before they escalated into grievances.
In October 2025, the pilot group reelected Capt. Brandon Oberdorfer MEC chair and Capt. Dustin Bullis vice chair while Capt. Steven Powell, a former Perimeter secretary-treasurer, was elected to that position.
With a renewed focus on educating members, the MEC launched a monthly “Did You Know?” segment in its biweekly communications that highlights pilots’ frequently asked questions about their collective agreement. “We also increased our use of TextCaster to remind members of upcoming meetings and when vacation bidding begins,” Oberdorfer noted.
Like most small- to medium-sized carriers, pilot retention remains a significant challenge. However, Perimeter pilots are adopting an optimistic approach and are becoming a more informed and unified workforce.
