Working to Achieve Goals and Enhance Pilot Group Support
It was a busy year for the Calm Air pilot group in 2025. Over the summer, as a result of the second-worst wildfire season in Canadian history, the airline and its pilots operated a high volume of evacuation and repatriation charters, which often involved adapting to a dynamic and sometimes rapidly changing situation, while simultaneously maintaining regularly scheduled passenger and freight service throughout the network. “These missions demonstrated the professionalism and dedication of Calm Air crews, whose top priority is always providing safe and reliable service to the communities they serve,” said Capt. Edward Oakes, the pilot group’s Master Executive Council (MEC) chair.
In addition, the pilots continued their efforts to work with the company to achieve shared goals, including expanding airline operations, while steadfastly enforcing the terms of their collective agreement. “This isn’t always a smooth road, but, overall, cooperation continues and lines of communication remain open,” Oakes observed.
In its ongoing mission to better support Calm Air pilots, the MEC stood up two new committees and expanded existing committees during the past year.
