Air Creebec Pilots Take a Unified Step Toward the Future
Air Creebec is a well-established regional airline with more than 35 years of service, playing a vital role in connecting remote communities across northern Québec and Ontario. Operating primarily along the James Bay coast, the airline provides essential transportation for the Cree Nation and for workers in mining, healthcare, and other northern industries. Its mission extends beyond commercial aviation. Air Creebec serves as a lifeline for communities where reliable air service is critical to daily life and economic activity.
The airline’s pilot group comprises more than 92 professional aviators based in Montréal, Val-d’Or, and Timmins. Together, they operate a fleet of approximately 20 Dash 8 aircraft and an expanding ATR 72 fleet, reflecting the airline’s steady growth and operational demand. These pilots routinely fly in challenging northern environments, demonstrating a high level of skill, adaptability, and commitment to safety while supporting vital services across remote regions.
In a significant step forward, the Air Creebec pilots have recently joined the Air Line Pilots Association, marking the first time the group has been unionized. This milestone reflects a collective decision to strengthen their voice and align with a broader network of professional pilots across North America. It also signals a commitment to advancing industry standards, safety, and working conditions through collaboration and representation.
The pilot group’s primary goal is to secure a professional, modern collective agreement that reflects the complexity and importance of their work. By joining ALPA, they are laying a strong foundation for the future—one that supports fair working conditions, career progression, and continued excellence in serving northern communities.
We are proud to serve remote communities in Northern Québec while working constructively with management to reach an agreement that supports a sustainable future for both the pilot group and the operation.
