ALPA's emergency relief fund offers immediate financial assistance to help ALPA pilots and their families recover from widespread, catastrophic events.

ALPA's Emergency Relief Fund

Established in the wake of Hurricane Katrina in 2005, Pilots for Pilots (P4P) has aided hundreds of ALPA members, providing hundreds of thousands of dollars in the form of grants to address the devastating effects of natural disasters. Tragedy can strike at a moment’s notice. P4P helps expedite the recovery process, allowing ALPA members and their dependents to return their lives to some semblance of normalcy.

We are all just a disaster away from needing Pilots for Pilots.

P4P is a tangible benefit of ALPA membership, but its availability depends on your support. The fund relies solely on donations, which are tax-deductible in the United States, and 100 percent of your donation goes to aid those members in need. Every dollar helps, but please consider making a generous donation today!

$250,000+

in grants were distributed to pilots experiencing emergency events in 2024.

120+

applications were received during the 2025 hurricane season.

100%

of your donation goes directly to help an ALPA member and their family.

F/O Tanya Bulleigh, United Airlines

"We are so appreciative and grateful for the assistance and for the incredible generosity and support of other pilots. This was such a ray of sunshine for us in such a negative dark year."

F/O Al Solter, Delta Air Lines

"We were flooded in Hurricane Florence in September 2018. Pilots for Pilots provided funds that helped us with immediate expenses as we were gutting our house."

Don't Let Stress Affect Your Livelihood

With atypical work schedules, operational irregularities, and the effects of routinely traveling through multiple time zones, we need to be able to juggle a certain amount of stress on a routine basis. Issues at home and other worries or concerns can cause tension to build quickly. Pilot Peer Support (PPS) volunteers are available 24/7 to listen and offer confidential, nonjudgmental support to ALPA members in the United States and Canada. Members in Canada also have the option to submit a request online.

The tax-exempt status of the Pilots for Pilots emergency relief fund is dependent on remaining within the IRS guidelines, which are specific in regards to eligibility. The guidelines limit P4P disbursement of the funds to individuals who suffer from a widespread disaster.

To ensure that you meet P4P criteria, please carefully review the fund guidelines, which explain the conditions that constitute an applicable disaster and the fund’s IRS classification.

Your donation is tax deductible in the United States to the extent permitted by law. Pilots for Pilots provides no goods or services, other than de minimus goods or services, in exchange for donations.
